Hair Growth Challenge 2013

Start - June 2013

End - December 31 2013

For the next six months I plan to challenge myself to grow at least four inches of hair.

  • First you need to find a regimen that works for your hair. Mine is to deep condition my hair once or twice a week with coconut oil and I only shampoo my hair if I have to relax it otherwise I use a ACV (apple cider vinegar) wash.

  • Make a hair growth shirt to track your progress.

    • Start from the neckline of the t-shirt and draw a line every 1 inch.

  • The next step is to put your hair in a protective hairstyle. These can range from putting you hair in buns or just simply braiding your entire hair.

I'll post a picture of my hair after I take my braids out in August.

Co-Washing Only

What is Co-Washing?

Co-Washing is when you only wash your hair with conditioner and leave out the shampoo.

But if you really have to shampoo your hair your should use apple cider mixed with some water.
  • 1 part apple cider
  • 4 parts water

Stretch Marks, Fade Away

So if you're like 40% of women you suffer from stretch marks. Since the only way to get rid of for sure is laser surgery, you can try a coffee scrub.

Mix:

  • Coffee
  • Olive oil
  • Coconut oil
Apply to affected area and wrap in a warm towel for about 10 mins and then wash off.

New to Blogger

The main reason I started this blog is to track my progress on growing out a pixie cut.

This is my hair last year around February or June (I'm not sure, could be later).

I am trying to get my hair to the length in this picture. So far I am about three inches away from this length at the sides and two inches at the back. So to get to this length within the next three months or by the time I get back to school, I decided to put my hair in braids for three months. So far my hair has grown about half an inch in three weeks or so. Hopefully I can get the other few inches by the time summer vacation is finished. I'll post a picture again in August.

Using Braids As A Protective Style

Usually I hate putting on extensions or braids since you can't really treat most of them like you do your normal hair but they can be useful for protecting your hair when you want it grow. Protective hairstyles prevent damage caused by the sun or other elements from damaging your hair so they are very useful.

Moisturize!

If you're like me and you suffer from occasional dry hair I have a solution.

  • Coconut oil
  • Castor oil
  • Olive oil
  • Tea tree oil

Mix together and apply to hair. This is very oily so it should be applied sparingly.
